it is black with green keyring which is a tremendous break from the usual yellow and black. The outer cause is finished in a matte black high grade impact resistant new age plastic. I can't testify as to how durable it is as I just got it. I will have to come back in a few years and report back, that is if I haven't lost it. It seems to be quite substantial and weighs a lot more than similar products from Stanley and B&D etc. \nI did check the accuracy with a laser measuring device and I am happy to report that the margin of error over the entire 7.5m length is less than a fraction of a nanometre. For daily use for things such as building a wooden planter or a dog house you won't notice this miniscule discrepancy. \nI wish it had a glow in the dark feature so that I could easily find it in low light conditions. Another nice feature would be if it had the ability to be used as a power bank for my cell phone. And lastly. putting a small digital clock would give it the ability to measure time as well.
